I heard about this book and bought it to read to my five year old grandchild. But I read it through twice before sharing it. Now I plan to have my seven older grandchildren and their parents read it! Jenine Tankoos and Aaron Diament have written and illustrated a book that will appeal to 5 year olds and 65 year olds. They have written a lighthearted, informative primer to educate little ones and not so little ones in the need for environmental conservation, and along the way teach them about hygiene, ("I would just wipe my hands off on my shirt, but Mom says I shouldn't." ), botany, ("I keep my plant in front of the mirror so he'll think there are two plants..."), practical common sense, ("You have more than one trash can at home, so why not have more recycling bins, too?"), and much more. I am absolutely in LOVE with this book! I first read it with my 5 year old son, and he was engaged and in to it, though I think it can benefit kids up through middle school. The fact that it's written from a kids perspective and addressed to other kids makes it so special and unique.
I school recently invited me to speak to a classroom of grade schoolers about why It's important to go green and steps kids themselves can take to be greener. It was a no brainer to bring this book and build my presentation around it. It created a lot of discussion and I am confidant ideas from this book will lead many of these kids to take measurable action for the good of the environment. The kids LOVED the book as much as I did! I can't wait to share this book in many more classrooms. Whether it's in the classroom or at home, every kid needs to hear this books message!
An adorable book with simple, inspiring ways to "go green" in your every day life. Perfect for children of all ages with clear, bright photos of a little boy (Aaron) showing kids how they can help make a difference in our world. From creative ways to recycle to fun project suggestions, there's a little something for everyone in this book. High quality pages with simple text and added discussion materials in the back. There's also a cute certificate to award 'GreenKids' with! This would make a great addition to a classroom library (especially to share on Earth Day) or homeschool lesson. Two thumbs up from me (and my own green kid) here at home!

This is a wonderful book that every kid and adult should read. It is educational, fun and and teach you how to be conscious about the environment and what things you could do to make a difference.

Let's Go Green Together is a fun, educational book for the whole family. My three children enjoyed reading it and learning how they can help the Earth. They loved the witty photo captions! As a parent, I am excited to see a book that empowers children to make a difference. This is a must-read for everyone!
If you are interested in fostering a love of nature and appreciation for protecting the Earth and its resources in your children or grandchildren then this is a book to seriously consider. It is written in a humorous and straightforward fashion, with specific suggestions for children about what they can do to protect the Environment. The book is illustrated with photographs, which makes it easy for children to understand the suggested actions, while funny captions under the photos will keep them interested.
I wish that this book had been available when I was teaching fifth grade. It lends itself to a wonderful addition to any curriculum. A section at the back of the book answers some important questions about recycling, saving water and energy resources, and keeping indoor air free of pollutants. This section is great for older children, teachers, parents and grandparents. This section also suggests interesting discussion questions and contains a green award for the reader. What I particularly liked about the book was its totally non-political or “preachy” tone while providing information critical for children to learn about caring for our planet.
