I loved the first book of this series as well as the novella that takes place between these books, so I was really looking forward to this. I loved all the characters, Amos was so much fun and a great hero for Grace, he was probably my favorite of all the characters. Helen was a wonderful surprise, she really steals the show, I wasn't expecting for her to get her own side plot or that it would be so involved in the story, in fact I often found myself just a little bit more interested in what was going on with her than with Grace sometimes. Grace was also a great character, I love how she comes out of her shell with the help of her friends and how she grows throughout the story. There is so much great humor throughout this book, I laughed repeatedly. And there's a lot of excitement here, they have a bad guy to fight and a problem to solve and there is a decent amount of action. Overall this is another wonderful entry in the series and I'm looking forward to reading more of this author's books in the future.Tags : Heart on the Line [Karen Witemeyer] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. <b>Witemeyer Returns with Her Trademark Blend of Adventure, Romance, and Humor<BR></b><BR>Grace Mallory is tired of running,Karen Witemeyer,Heart on the Line,Bethany House Publishers,0764212826,Christian - Historical,Christian - Romance,Romance - Historical - General,Christian fiction,Christian fiction.,Love stories,Love stories.,Man-woman relationships,Telegraphers,AMERICAN HISTORICAL FICTION,AMERICAN LIGHT ROMANTIC FICTION,Christian - Historical,Christian - Romance,Christian fiction,Christian fiction.,Christian fiction; historical fiction; romance; clean read; inspirational; inspy; Texas frontier; women’s colony; Harper’s Station; HOLT medallion award; telegraph; Texas author; Texas fiction; texas novel; clean romance,Christian fiction;historical fiction;romance;clean read;inspirational;inspy;Texas frontier;women's colony;Harper's Station;HOLT medallion award;telegraph;Texas author;Texas fiction;texas novel;clean romance,FICTION Christian Historical,FICTION Christian Romance,FICTION Romance Historical General,Fiction,Fiction-Christian,FictionChristian - Romance - General,GENERAL,General Adult,Love stories,Love stories.,Man-woman relationships,Romance - Historical - General,Telegraphers,United States,FIC027050,FIC042040,FICTION Christian Historical,FICTION Christian Romance,FICTION Romance Historical General,FictionChristian - Romance - General,American Historical Fiction,American Light Romantic Fiction,Fiction
Heart on the Line Karen Witemeyer 9780764212826 Books Reviews
I have read and enjoyed all of Karen Witemeyer's books. This was one of her best yet. We return to Harper Station, TX where each woman has moved to this secluded, all-female colony, for different reasons and Grace is no exception. She is in hiding from the man who not only killed her father, but he is after her as well.
One of the main differences in this book is that our hero is not the biggest, brawniest, typical hero type. Goodness, he doesn't even ride a horse! But you will fall in love with Amos, who is smart, witty, and whose heart is as big as Texas. And when Grace's life is in danger, he proves himself able to run with the big guys, to think on his feet, and to save the day.
This is also a two-for-one love story, as Helen (the one who is most distrusting of all men) finds that there are some trustworthy guys out there.
I had a hard time putting this book down, there were some intense parts as well as places I laughed out loud.
I totally recommend this book - if you have read the other books about Harper's Station, you know you can't wait to read Grace's story. If you haven't read the other books - you are a bit behind and need to catch up!!
Karen Witemeyer doesn't let readers down with her latest novel, Heart on the Line. It is an amazing read!
The first thing I'll say is that I love, love, love that Amos Bledsoe isn't a muscular, tall, handsome man ~ the usual kind of hero. Karen chose a bespectacled, non-muscular man, someone these days we would call a geek. Such a fresh take on the hero character! She then contrasts the geek with a strong and independent heroine. The characters kept me turning the pages, I just couldn't wait to see their happily ever after 😊
The plot was very good and the sub-plot of Helen and Lee was well-thought out, nicely paced, and perfectly braided in. Other than Head in the Clouds, this was my favorite Karen Witemeyer novel. And yes, I've read them all 😁
I loved this book! Grace and Amos are smart and compassionate with lots of backbone. Their romance is sweet and wonderful with such an unusual storyline. This is a well-written adventure that has mystery, murder, adventure, kidnapping, velocipedes, Morse Code, and more. I loved the way the author explained Grace’s thoughts about her first kiss, Amos’ descriptions of the aunts, Helen’s argument with God, and of the lawman’s exasperation of duty making his supper cold. What an absolute delightful read!
I've been immersed with the first round of edits for a book that is due to the publisher in a few months. One of the things that has kept my sanity during this time is reading Karen Witemeyer's new book, Heart on the Line. In my opinion, it's her best one ever. I love the humor that Karen pulls into each of her stories as well as the depth of thought she allows the reader to 'overhear' from each of her characters. She has a knack for pulling the reader in and not letting go until the end of the book.
Here's an overview of the story
Grace Mallory has been on the run and been in hiding for quite a while. It's time to confront her enemy and get down to the truth her father so desperately sought after. Her friends in Harper's Station are sure to rally around her.
Amos Bledsoe is a fellow telegraph operator that Grace has come to know, only over the wire. When Amos learns that Grace's life is threatened, he comes to her defense. Can she trust him? What plans does he intend?
Heart on the Line takes you on a delightful tale where the hero isn't always tall, dark and handsome. Sometimes a hero swoops in on a bicycle instead of a horse.

Karen Witemeyer writes my favorite books ever and this one is at the top of the list(I have read all of her stories) Amos Bledsoe is giving Noah Calhoun from "The Notebook" serious competition for my favorite male character ever. He was adorable the way he knew he wasn't God's gift to women but wanted so earnestly to help Grace and be there for her. I can't even fully describe how much I adored Amos. The mystery aspect was very good and I loved the secondary story of Helen. It added a great element to the book. The Harper Station series is my favorite of all of Karen's books and I can't recommend them enough!!
My favorite quote from the book and a great indicator of why I adore Amos
"He might not be a lawman or have muscles the size of boulders, but he had heart. A heart that belonged to a beautiful woman who'd been willing to die rather than put the people she cared about in danger. A heart that demanded he protect this woman, no matter the personal cost."
